Know More
In the conflict-hit eastern provinces (especially North Kivu, South Kivu and Ituri), more than 2,500 schools and learning spaces have either closed, been damaged or repurposed (e.g., occupied as shelters).
In the conflict-torn provinces of North Kivu, South Kivu, and Ituri, education has become a distant dream for many children. Over 2,500 schools and learning spaces have been destroyed, shut down, or turned into shelters for displaced families. Classrooms that once echoed with laughter now stand silent or in ruins. Thousands of teachers are without jobs, and millions of children are left without learning or safety. Each lost school is a lost future, a fading light in a child’s life. Together, we can help rebuild these spaces and give education — and hope — a place to live again.

Problem
Schools aren’t just places of learning — they offer protection (from child-recruitment, sexual violence, etc.). With schools closed or unsafe, those protective layers weaken
Across eastern Congo, classrooms are falling silent. Ongoing fighting has forced thousands of schools to shut down — some destroyed, others turned into shelters for displaced families. What used to be safe spaces for children to learn and dream have become empty shells, echoing with the absence of students.
According to UNICEF, over 1.3 million children in Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu have been pushed out of school this year alone. For many of them, this isn’t just a pause in learning — it’s a full stop. When education stops, the risks multiply: recruitment into armed groups, early marriages, and the slow erosion of hope.
Yet, even amid the chaos, pockets of resilience emerge. Temporary classrooms made of tarps and sticks are popping up in camps. Volunteer teachers work without pay, trying to keep some rhythm of learning alive. Radio lessons are being broadcast where internet and electricity are just dreams.

Solution
Through this program We have built and opened free schools in Goma and Sake, providing safe learning environments for children affected by ongoing conflict.
We’re proud to be providing free education to over 300 children — a lifeline for families who have lost everything to conflict and displacement. Through strong community support, we’ve built a system that covers every essential need. From teacher salaries and classroom supplies to uniforms and daily meals, every part of the school is fully funded. This means parents no longer have to choose between feeding their children and sending them to class. Students can focus on learning, growing, and dreaming again without the weight of financial struggle. Teachers are empowered, classrooms are thriving, and hope is returning to communities once silenced by war. Each child educated represents a step toward healing and rebuilding. Together, we’re proving that free, quality education can transform entire generations.

Concept
As well as Providing Education to 300+ Children at No Cost Through community support, we fully fund school operations including teacher salaries, supplies, uniforms, and meals allowing children to learn without financial burden on their families.
This incredible organization empowers Congolese communities by providing access to education, healthcare, and essential resources. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn and thrive, and together, we can make a meaningful difference.
Your donations will help in the following ways:
Provide scholarships and educational resources to students in need.
Support healthcare initiatives that ensure children are healthy and ready to learn.
Please consider making a donation to support ThefutureofcongoInc's essential work this Back-to-School season. Together, we can empower the next generation!
