New Year’s Eve in Beni
Recapping our heartwarming holiday events in Goma and Beni, where we united over 500 children and parents through joy, nourishment, and community spirit
Holiday Event
On December 17, 2025, the atmosphere was filled with anticipation and warmth as we gathered at the Future of Congo Academy in Goma for a truly special Holiday Cheer event. This was not merely a seasonal party; it was a powerful gathering designed to bring together more than 270 children and their parents to celebrate life and resilience. Standing side-by-side in the schoolyard, we created a safe space where families could pause, connect, and enjoy the festivities together.
Beyond the immediate smiles and the festive celebrations, this day served a much deeper purpose by strengthening the essential bond between education, family, and the broader community. It was a profound moment of dignity and togetherness, demonstrating clearly that when children are adequately supported, their entire families feel uplifted and empowered. By involving the parents directly in the festivities, we highlighted that education is a community effort that requires everyone's participation. Together, amidst the challenges of daily life, we are successfully building hope and securing a stronger future, changing lives one child and one family at a time.

As the year drew to a close on December 31, 2025, we traveled to the city of Beni in North Kivu to ring in the New Year with a heartwarming activity in the company of Generation Solidaire. We wanted to ensure that the transition into 2026 was marked by abundance, safety, and community for those who need it most. It was vital for us to be on the ground, ending the year with a direct act of service and compassion for the local youth.
The impact of this New Year’s Eve celebration was immense, reaching between 200 and 300 children who were treated to a nutritious breakfast and a festive lunch. More than just providing meals, this gathering was about sharing laughter and pure joy in a supportive environment. It was a crucial opportunity to remind every single child present that they are deeply seen, truly valued, and never alone in their struggles. Starting the new year with full bellies and happy hearts sends a powerful message of solidarity, reinforcing our commitment to standing beside the youth of North Kivu through every season and circumstance.

Reflecting on these two incredible events in Goma and Beni, we see a clear picture of what is possible when compassion meets action during the holiday season. From the classrooms of the Academy to the streets of North Kivu, our mission remains centered on creating tangible moments of relief and happiness for vulnerable youth. These events are the pillars upon which we build trust, showing the communities we serve that we are consistent, present, and deeply invested in their well-being.
Collectively, these holiday initiatives allowed us to impact over 500 children across the region, proving that our work goes far beyond simple aid—it is about restoring humanity and confidence. Whether it was strengthening the parent-child bond in Goma or combating isolation on New Year's Eve in Beni, every interaction contributed to a foundation of resilience. As we move forward into the new year, we carry the energy of these celebrations with us. We remain dedicated to fostering environments where children can thrive, families can connect, and hope can flourish, ensuring a brighter future for the Congo.

As the festive lights fade and the new school term begins, our commitment to these children remains as steadfast and vibrant as ever. The joy witnessed during these holiday events serves as the vital fuel that powers our ongoing educational and nutritional programs throughout the year. We are inviting our global community to stay engaged with our mission, knowing that consistency is the key to transforming temporary relief into lasting, generational change for these communities.
To sustain this incredible momentum, we rely on the continued generosity and advocacy of partners who truly believe in the potential of the Congolese youth. These holiday meals and gatherings are merely the starting point for a year dedicated to academic excellence, physical health, and emotional well-being. By joining our mission today, you help ensure that the feelings of being seen, valued, and supported are not just limited to December, but are a daily reality for every child we serve. We invite you to walk this path with us, turning these isolated moments of holiday cheer into a lifetime of opportunity and growth.
